Big Pharma VP Whistleblower Tells All
Some of you may be familiar with the name Dr. Peter Rost. He is a former vice president of Pfizer, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies around the world. He made headlines by becoming a whistleblower, sharing the truth about the pharmaceutical industry and its ties to the medical community. As a result of what Dr. Rost hints, the editor in chief of the New England Medical Journal, and Dr. Richard Horton, the editor in chief of the Lancet Journal both conclude that clinical research may be untrue, and are thus no longer possible to believe.
Dr. Rost explains how wealthy pharmaceutical companies are, and how they use their money to influence research. As a lot of studies occur in cash-strapped universities, paying them, big bucks are the way to go for the results big Pharma wants. University directors and professors are paid directly to speak around the world at huge conferences that will further influence the medical community. Pharmaceutical companies have also been known to give money to universities for specific programs that bring universities more money. He goes on to claim that universities that don’t lean in the direction of big Pharma won’t see any further grants or funding.
Moreover, Dr. John P. A. Ioannidis of Stanford University is concerned that most published research findings are also false. He goes on to state that the only studies exposed are those sponsored by big pharmaceutical companies. Moreover, they are designed in such a way that they can’t detect future problems after treatment, or the risks involved when taking medications for long periods of time.
